Happiness and iTunes
Dec. 4th, 2003 04:10 pmI was really not a happy camper when I got up this morning - I'm SO not a morning person, but I had errands I needed to run today. After Jeff left, I sat down and turned on the machine. Demeter was online already, which was something surprising. One of the old-time Miniclanners, she and I have traded music and other stuff back and forth online occasionally. She posted she was looking for five songs. Usually when looking for a song, I check the legal channels first - and for the very first time it worked. 4 out of the 5 songs were on the iTunes music store. Well, the only problem now is how do I give Demi a copy? I bought the four songs and burned a CD, and Fedex Overnighted it to her. (99.9% legal music sharing?) I still can't find the other song - even on Limewire - 'Ms. Take by The Fags'. Oh well. This was actually my first experience using the iTunes Music Store, and it was a good one. In the past my gripe with online music services in general was they didn't have a single thing I wanted. But today iTunes had four songs I wanted, when I wanted them, and iTunes of course let's me burn them to a CD as many times as I want - one went to Demeter and one for the car. The download was fast, the songs are complete, good quality, and sound good. Needless to say, the iTunes Music Store impressed me on my first use. And if the RIAA has any questions, I paid cold hard cash for those songs. Demeter felt a little guilty having me pay money for songs for her (4 songs @ $0.99 + $19.55 for Fedex). Do I really need a reason? I mean really - do I need a reason to buy stuff for a friend? I told her to forget it - call it a christmas gift. It made me feel really good. She said she needed to get me a gift in exchange and didn't know what, so I gave her the link to my Amazon.Com wishlist. I miss all my old gargs friends. It's nice when we have the chance to chat or do stuff together like this. Here's to old-time gargs fans - may we stay friends forever.
Happiness is buying something for someone on the spur of the moment. - me.
EDIT: The only problem, of course, is that we are now broke until the 15th of December.
